Thank you for the article. What I want people to know is that you don’t have to be an alcoholic to moderate your drinking or stop all together. You are not powerless over your intake, nor are you powerless to address the underlying causes and conditions that create the compelling relationship to pain relieving/pain distracting drugs and/or behaviors. Ask yourself why do you choose to not be yourself for a few hours. What do the drugs of solution, solve for you? List their benefits, then list the costs and how they are or are not in alignment with your values. You’re capable of surviving the relationship. I expect that you will, but at what cost? That’s entirely up to you.
