I've lost 16 friends to suicide and it would never occur to me to blame some something as innocuous as social media. That strategy is not honoring the tragic loss as it gives socail media too much power and it absolves us of what we can actually control which is OUR RELATIONSHIP TO SOCIAL MEDIA. WE get to have thoughtful and considerate conversations that get to the real causes and conditions of suicide and mental health illness in general, including STIGMA which is the actual number one reason for why people struggle for so long and get worse before actually having a chance to sstart the healing.
